Montreal: Early Tuesday morning, a fire broke out in an apartment building in the east end. It was a big deal, with five people needing hospital care, including a firefighter. Two of them are in serious condition, and one person’s life is in danger.

Over 125 firefighters rushed to the scene around 10 a.m. to tackle the four-alarm blaze at Place d’Antioche and Saint-Zotique Street in Anjou. The fire department got multiple 911 calls, prompting a swift response.

The firefighter was taken to the hospital just as a precaution. As for the other four, two are in serious shape, and there’s real concern for one individual.

Right now, the cause of the fire is still a mystery. The entire building has been evacuated, and the damage looks pretty bad. The Red Cross is stepping in to help, planning to temporarily house around 30 families who’ve been displaced.

The police are now leading the investigation, trying to figure out what happened. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
