Abby Boreen’s two goals helped Montreal beat Minnesota 4-2, securing the top spot in the PWHL standings after an exciting match.
Claire Dalton and captain Marie-Philip Poulin also found the net for Montreal. It was their first home game since December 30, and they really made it count. Ann-Renée Desbiens was solid in goal, making 21 saves to help secure the win.
The Frost had a tough night. Kendall Coyne Schofield and Claire Thompson managed to score, but it wasn’t enough. This was their first road loss of the season, after starting strong with three wins away from home.
Montreal’s victory pushed them ahead of Minnesota in the PWHL standings. They now hold two games in hand. The Victoire had previously lost to the Frost 4-2 in Denver, so this win was sweet revenge.
Unfortunately, the Victoire played without Laura Stacey, who is day-to-day with an injury. Next up, Montreal will take on the Ottawa Charge on Sunday at Quebec City’s Videotron Centre. Meanwhile, Minnesota will host Ottawa on Tuesday at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
