Montreal: The 588 Eric Simms Squadron recently held a beautiful citizenship ceremony, welcoming 50 new Canadians. It was such a heartwarming event!
Everyone gathered to celebrate unity and diversity, and it really felt special. Mark Pascal, a cadet, shared how nice it was to see everyone together, regardless of their backgrounds.
Muzafar Ahmed, who came from Sudan, expressed how becoming a Canadian citizen felt like a huge relief after his long journey. He mentioned how learning French was a fun adventure along the way.
This was the fourth annual event, and it really showed how connected the squadron is to the Saint-Laurent community. They’re all about inclusivity and supporting newcomers.
Prathika Sivathas, another cadet, emphasized the importance of making new citizens feel welcomed. She knows firsthand what it’s like to immigrate and wants to celebrate everyone’s unique journey.
Ahmed, who is also an immigrant, felt proud to be part of the ceremony. He’s excited about his future plans, including getting married soon.
Both Pascal and Sivathas highlighted how being a cadet teaches valuable lessons about leadership and community service. It’s all about helping each other and growing together.
Pascal reflected on how meaningful it is to go from being a child watching the ceremony to standing on stage as a citizen. It’s a full-circle moment that really hits home.
