Cold weather alerts are in effect across Canada, with many provinces bracing for severe temperatures and snow squalls.
Toronto: Right now, Canada is feeling the chill. Many areas are under extreme cold weather alerts. Environment Canada has issued warnings for several provinces.
Temperatures are expected to stay frigid until mid-week. Some folks might feel wind chills as low as minus 45 degrees Celsius. Yikes!
In Ontario, places like Barrie and Orillia are on alert for snow squalls from late Monday to Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, Toronto isn’t under any weather alerts, but it still feels like minus 22-23 degrees in most of the Greater Toronto Area.
Elsewhere, Alberta is feeling like minus 40 C, while Saskatchewan and Manitoba are even colder at minus 45 C. Brrr!
A weather system from the U.S. brought a good amount of snow to southern New Brunswick and parts of Prince Edward Island. About 25 centimeters in New Brunswick and 15 centimeters in PEI. That’s a lot of snow!
Schools across the Prairies and Atlantic Canada have closed due to the cold and snow. Environment Canada warns everyone to be cautious. If it’s too cold for you, it’s definitely too cold for pets.
