Carey Price shares his thoughts on his career ending due to injury and his new life as a dad and community supporter
Montreal: Carey Price’s journey in hockey has been quite the ride. After a tough end to the 2021 season, he’s been reflecting on everything. It’s wild to think that he didn’t know that Game 5 would be his last for a while.
He felt the weight of that loss, both physically and emotionally. Price mentioned how close they were to winning it all, and it really hit him hard. But he also treasures the experience, saying it’s something he’ll always hold dear.
His knee issues were already a big deal during that playoff run. After the season, he tried to bounce back, but it didn’t go as planned. He realized that when your body says it’s time to step back, you’ve got to listen.
Now, at 37, he hasn’t played since April 2022. While he hasn’t officially retired, he’s moved on to a new chapter in life. He joked about how he thought he’d have all this free time, but parenting keeps him on his toes.
Price has also teamed up with Kraft Hockeyville, helping communities improve their local rinks. Growing up in a small area, he knows how vital those spaces are for kids and families.
Looking back, he’s proud of his career stats and the trophies he won, but he knows it was a team effort. Even though he didn’t win the ultimate prize in the playoffs, he’s grateful for the journey.
As for the future, he’s enjoying being a dad for now. He joked about possibly returning to hockey when his kids are older and don’t think he’s cool anymore. He’s also keeping an eye on politics, but it’s not really his scene.
