Kevin Eric Langford denied bail in Nova Scotia lobster extortion case. He will remain in custody until his trial.
Langford got arrested on Sunday, along with Zacharie David Thibault and Eric David Thibault. Police say they threatened a man at his home on January 30. The victim lived in Saulnierville, Nova Scotia.
The lawyers for the Thibaults requested a delay, and their bail hearings are later this month. All three men face serious charges and are accused of making threats. The charges also include extortion and intimidation.
The men allegedly threatened to shoot and burn the victim’s home, even mentioning killing his dogs. The former fisherman spoke to officers, and police said they blamed the victim for lost sales concerning lobster.
Langford and Zacharie went to the man’s home, allegedly wanting $10,000, instigated by Eric Thibault. He already faces other intimidation charges. Police claim the Thibaults are a crime family who exploit the lobster industry. These allegations remain unproven in court, and no one has entered a plea.
