Quebec: Former central banker Mark Carney is gearing up for a big day. He’s expected to get a major endorsement from Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne. They’ll be out campaigning in Champagne’s riding all day.

Carney’s been vocal about running as an MP in the next election, no matter how the leadership race turns out. This endorsement is crucial for him, especially in Quebec, which has a lot of seats up for grabs.

Yesterday, Carney also gained support from other cabinet members, including Defence Minister Bill Blair and Transport Minister Anita Anand. Meanwhile, former finance minister Chrystia Freeland is set to connect with francophone voters on a popular talk show tonight.

Karina Gould, another candidate, spent the weekend in Quebec but is now back in Toronto making calls. Frank Baylis, the only Liberal from Quebec in the race, postponed a town hall to focus on getting members signed up before the deadline.

The Liberals are looking to choose a new leader to replace Justin Trudeau on March 9, with seven candidates officially in the running. It’s heating up as the campaign continues!
