Montreal: It’s a sad day for hockey fans. Marcel Bonin, a three-time Stanley Cup champ with the Canadiens, has passed away at 93. He was a true legend.

Born in 1931, Bonin kicked off his NHL journey with the Detroit Red Wings in 1952. He played a few seasons there and with the Boston Bruins before joining the Habs in 1957.

Once he joined Montreal, he hit his stride, winning three Stanley Cups in a row starting in 1958. He was a key player, scoring 97 goals and racking up 272 points over his career.

His best season was in 1959-60, where he really shined. He scored 17 goals and had 51 points in just 59 games. He also made his mark in the playoffs.

The Canadiens expressed their condolences to Bonin’s family and friends, highlighting his status as one of the greats of his time. He’ll always be remembered for his contributions to the game.
