Marie-Philip Poulin shined with a hat trick, leading Montreal to a 4-1 win against Ottawa, showcasing her skills and team spirit.
Laval: So, let me tell you about this awesome game last night. Marie-Philip Poulin, the captain of the Montreal Victoire, was on fire! She scored a hat trick and totally turned the game around against the Ottawa Charge.
At first, Montreal was struggling, down 1-0 after a rough first period. But then, Poulin came out swinging in the second. She fired off a wicked one-timer that tied the game, and from there, it was all Victoire.
Poulin ended up scoring two more goals, leading her team to a solid 4-1 victory. It was her second hat trick in the PWHL, and you could feel the energy shift once she got that first goal.
Coach Kori Cheverie was thrilled, saying that Poulin has this incredible ability to change the game. And honestly, it’s true! She puts in the work during practice, and it really paid off.
Emily Clark from Ottawa had a chance to score earlier but hit the post, which was a bummer for them. Then, Poulin just took over. Her shot was so quick that the crowd barely had time to react before it went in.
Gardiner, one of her teammates, joked about how they didn’t even see the goal; they just heard it hit the crossbar. That’s how fast Poulin is when she’s in the zone!
With this win, Montreal jumped to first place in the league, even though they’ve played fewer games than some teams. Poulin is now leading the league in scoring, which is pretty impressive.
Gardiner also had a great game, contributing a goal and two assists. She’s really finding her groove playing alongside Poulin and Abigail Boreen, who’s filling in for an injured player.
Poulin, who’s got three Olympic gold medals under her belt, said she’s learning from Gardiner too. It’s cool to see how they’re helping each other grow on the ice.
Even though Poulin started the season a bit slow, she’s really picked it up lately. She’s been working hard, and it’s showing in her performance.
On the other side, Ottawa is having a tough time scoring. They had a lot of chances but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Their coach, Carla MacLeod, said they need to capitalize on those opportunities if they want to win.
Next up, Ottawa will face Toronto, while Montreal will host them. It’s going to be exciting to see how both teams bounce back!
