Montreal is buzzing with excitement as the Vietnamese community celebrates Têt, marking a special anniversary and showcasing their rich culture.
Montreal: The city is alive with the sounds and sights of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. The Têt Festival is in full swing, and it’s a big deal this year.
Why? It marks 50 years since Vietnamese refugees arrived in Canada. That’s a huge milestone! Van Nha Tran, the President of the Vietnamese Community in Montreal, is excited.
She said, “We’re thrilled to present our biggest annual Tet Festival to celebrate the Year of the Snake and thank Canada for its warm welcome.”
Yvonne Nguyen, the event director, shared her hopes too. “We want to promote our culture and build strong ties with local communities,” she said.
It’s also a time to honor the resilience of the Vietnamese community over the years. Attendees can enjoy cultural performances, delicious food, and fun activities.
With nearly 50 food vendors and booths, there’s something for everyone. It’s a great way to celebrate and connect with the community.
