A Montreal firefighter faces serious charges, including voyeurism and drug trafficking, after being arrested in front of his colleagues
He was taken into custody right in front of his fellow firefighters at Station 57. Can you imagine? The Laval police swooped in on him Thursday morning. Apparently, he was filming women without them knowing, both in Laval and Montreal, even at his own fire station.
The police started looking into this back in December. They found evidence at the fire station, which is pretty wild. After his arrest, he was questioned by the sex crimes unit and ended up in court the next day.
During his court appearance, he was visibly upset, facing ten charges in total. Nine of those are voyeurism charges, and one is for having meth with the intent to sell. Eight of the voyeurism charges have identified victims, while one is still a mystery.
The prosecution didn’t want him released, so he’s stuck in custody for now. He’s due back in court on Monday. Meanwhile, the fire department has already suspended him without pay. They’re also making sure the other firefighters have access to counseling if they need it. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
