Montreal: It looks like visitors are really enjoying their time in the city! A recent survey shows tourism is on the rise, with a satisfaction level hitting 93 percent. That’s pretty impressive, right?

Yves Lalumière, the head of Tourisme Montréal, mentioned that their teams are doing a great job attracting big conventions and supporting local festivals. This has really boosted the cultural vibe in the city.

They found that the number of visitors has jumped nearly 7 percent compared to last year. It seems more Canadians and Americans are choosing Montreal as their travel destination, with increases of 6 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

With over 10 million visits to their website and tons of Google searches about traveling to Montreal, it’s clear that interest is growing. Lalumière is excited about promoting the city and its tourism sector even more.

Looking at the numbers for 2024, a new flight route to Seoul has brought in 63 percent more Korean visitors. China is also bouncing back with a 46 percent increase, even without direct flights. Japan is showing a steady interest too, with a 16 percent rise.

Tourism from French-speaking countries, especially Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia, has grown by 19 percent, while France saw a 3 percent increase. It’s great to see such diversity in visitors!

Almost 90 percent of people surveyed said they plan to come back to Montreal. They rated their experiences—like hospitality and safety—very highly, with over 80 percent satisfaction.

On the hotel front, there are now 23,000 rooms available, and the occupancy rate is holding steady at 71.2 percent. That’s a good sign for the local economy!

Tourisme Montréal is particularly happy about the growing interest during the winter months. They expect a 9.2 percent increase in visitors this winter compared to last year, which already saw a 5.6 percent rise.

It’s clear that Montreal isn’t just a one-time visit; it’s a place that keeps bringing people back for more!
