A Nova Scotia woman faces 150+ fraud charges, including forgery and identity theft, remaining in custody until a March hearing.
Alissa Kathryn MacGillivary’s hearing was stopped. She will stay in custody until March 7. The charges accuse her of fraud since 2014. She allegedly got over $100,000.
Police announced over 100 charges Thursday. These include extortion, forgery, and fraud. Last September, they laid more charges. Those involved fraud and firearms.
The RCMP arrested MacGillivary on January 17. Officers reviewed documents from a search. The search happened in August 2024.
Police say she used fake identities. She had over 15 identities, starting in 1995. She forged documents to get money. She also got benefits this way.
Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay said victims were found. Eight people and groups were identified. Some aliases matched real people. They were identity theft victims.
Tremblay said the charges are broad. The money she got was significant. He had not seen so many fraud charges for one person in Nova Scotia.
The new charges include forgery counts. There are also counts for using forged documents. Further counts include possessing forged documents. She faces identity theft and fraud charges as well.
