Thousands in Quebec are still without power as crews brave harsh weather to restore service
Quebec: So, there’s been quite a mess with power outages lately. Strong winds and snow squalls hit the area hard on Monday, leaving over 110,000 homes in the dark. But by Tuesday morning, that number dropped a lot.
As of 6 a.m., about 8,700 households were still without power. Crews are out there working in tough weather to get things back up and running.
The worst of it seems to be in Montérégie, Centre-du-Québec, Lanaudière, and Laurentides. Montérégie had around 2,600 homes still without power, while Centre-du-Québec had about 2,337 affected. In Lanaudière and the Laurentians, 1,530 and 1,420 homes were still in the dark.
Hydro-Québec has 500 crews on the ground, braving the cold and wind to reconnect everyone. They’re really putting in the effort to restore power.
These outages were caused by some seriously strong winds, hitting speeds of up to 100 km/h. If you want to keep up with the latest, check out Hydro-Québec’s outages map for real-time updates.
