Montreal: Quebec is about to get hit with some serious cold. After a warm spell, temperatures are dropping fast. The next three days will be frigid.

An Arctic air mass is moving in, bringing chilly winds. Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a warning about this cold snap. They say it’s going to be intense.

In Ville-Marie, expect highs below -20°C and lows dipping below -30°C. Wind chill could make it feel even colder, between -38°C and -45°C. That’s no joke!

The agency warns that this kind of weather can be dangerous. Frostbite and hypothermia are real risks, especially for kids, seniors, and those with health issues. If you’re outside, watch for symptoms like shortness of breath or numbness.

Gina Ressler, a meteorologist, mentioned this cold snap is the worst in two years. Last winter was unusually warm, so this feels like a shock. But cold snaps in January are pretty normal for Montreal.

Ressler suggests checking the weather before heading out. Staying indoors is best. If you must go out, dress in layers and wear a wind-resistant coat. Don’t forget a hat; you lose a lot of heat through your head. Stay warm, everyone!
