Haroun Bouazzi returns to Quebec Solidaire amid internal strife and controversy
Quebec City: So, Haroun Bouazzi is back with Quebec Solidaire after a bit of a rough patch. He missed the end of the last session due to some pretty controversial comments he made. It’s been a tough year for the party, with a lot of internal drama shaking things up.
First off, they had the resignation of co-spokesperson Émilise Lessard-Therrien last April, which really threw the party into a tailspin. It made people question the leadership of Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, who’s been pushing for QS to step up as a “party of government.”
He did manage to get the Saguenay Declaration passed, showing he’s trying to take a more pragmatic approach. But just when you think things might settle down, Bouazzi stirred the pot again in November. He made some comments about seeing a “dangerous or inferior” culture in the National Assembly, which didn’t sit well with a lot of folks.
He didn’t back down either, refusing to apologize and even doubling down during a radio interview. This caused quite a stir among party members, leading to some serious divisions. Eventually, he did post an apology on social media, but the damage was done.
Now, with the party struggling in the polls, they’re hoping to move past these issues and focus on their ideas. But it won’t be easy, especially with all the noise around Donald Trump’s tariff threats still making headlines.
