Quebec: So, it looks like Santé Québec is back in the spotlight again. They’re tackling the overcrowding issue in emergency rooms, which is still a big deal. This Friday marks their third press conference in a row about the situation.

Right now, ERs across Quebec are running at about 115% capacity. In Montreal, it’s even worse, with some hospitals like Lakeshore hitting a staggering 206%. That’s just wild!

Dr. Luc Boileau, the public health director, will be there this time to give us the latest on the health situation. While COVID-19 and RSV cases are going down, flu cases are creeping up, and there’s even a new measles outbreak.

The AQPP is urging folks to get their vaccines at pharmacies to help ease the pressure on ERs. In their first briefing of 2025, they mentioned that things are looking a bit better than last year, with shorter stays and less crowding.

They’re also asking people to think twice before heading to the ER for non-urgent issues. Instead, they suggest calling 811 or visiting pharmacies and clinics. It’s all about keeping those emergency rooms from overflowing!
